Pain We Treat
Sports and Overuse Injury Care in Stamford, CT
Golf, tennis and endurance training load the same tendons and joints thousands of times, and the pain that follows rarely clears up on its own. Halina Snowball, MD, of Integrated Pain Solutions treats the overloaded tissue and the movement that keeps overloading it, with a plan built around your season and your training week.

Who We Help
Injuries We Commonly Treat
Some sports injuries happen in a single moment. Many more build up slowly from repetition, until a tendon, joint or muscle can no longer keep up with the load.
Knee
Runner’s knee, jumper’s knee (patellar tendinitis), meniscus tears, ACL and MCL injuries and IT band pain.
Shoulder
Rotator cuff tears, tendinitis, bursitis and labral tears from throwing, swimming and racquet sports.
Elbow
Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow, along with ligament strain from repeated gripping and swinging.
Hip
Tendinitis, bursitis and labral tears that make running, cycling and deep squats painful.
Foot and Ankle
Plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendon pain that flare up with mileage and hard surfaces.
Muscle
Strains, spasms and trigger points, the tight knots that limit range of motion and send pain into nearby areas.
Why do overuse injuries keep coming back?
Rest calms the pain, but it does not always heal the tissue underneath. Tendons in particular have a limited blood supply, and when they are strained again and again the body can lay down scar tissue instead of healthy tissue.
Return to the same training load with the same mechanics, and the injury often returns with you. That is why treatment here looks at two things: the injured tissue itself and the movement pattern that keeps stressing it.
What happens at a sports injury evaluation?
Dr. Snowball reviews your training, your history with the injury and your symptoms, then examines how the painful area moves and where it gives out. Pain in a knee or shoulder often starts somewhere else, so nearby joints are checked too.
If a clearer picture is needed, she may recommend X-rays, an MRI or nerve testing before building your plan.
Treatment Options
How We Treat Sports Injuries

PRP Therapy
A concentrate of platelets from your own blood, placed into the injured tendon or joint to support repair.

EPAT Shockwave Therapy
Pressure waves delivered through the skin to stubborn tendon and soft tissue pain, with no needles and no downtime.

Trigger Point Injections
Targeted injections that relax painful muscle knots, easing pain and restoring range of motion.

Physical Therapy and Massage
Rebuilding strength and range of motion without overstressing the joint, supported by therapeutic massage.

Acupuncture
Used alongside medical treatment to decrease pain intensity and improve function.
Our Goal
Back to Your Sport, Not a Break From It
Planned Around Your Season
Treatment is scheduled with your competition calendar and training week in mind, not in place of them.
Keep Moving Through Care
PRP and EPAT are done in the office without surgery, so most patients stay active while they heal.
Fix the Movement Too
Physical therapy and mobility work address the mechanics behind the injury, which helps keep it from coming back.
